Snainton Golf - Custom Fit

The Snainton Custom Fitting System measures an individual golfers physical attributes for the specifications required to achieve the ideal posture, swing plane and impact position. This is based on the only constant characteristics of the golf swing that stay the same, namely the golfers height, arm length and hand size.

Manufacturers build clubs to their own standard, but there is no ‘generic’ standard throughout golf. The performance characteristic between different makes and models varies tremendously so professional help is highly recommended. Golfers should use clubs suited to their swing, not change their swing to accommodate ill-suited clubs.

It is a myth to think you are not good enough to get your clubs custom fitted, whether you have been playing golf for twenty years, or you have just started out, your game WILL improve though custom fitting… whether you are buying a set of irons or just a wedge, your game WILL improve through custom fitting!

What is custom fitting?

Custom Fitting is the process by which golf equipment is tailored to an individual's unique needs. Custom Fitting can be used to achieve many different aims;

  • adapting to a players physical dimensions (taller / shorter / large hands etc),
  • reducing the impact of a consistent swing fault,
  • to encourage the correct technique,
  • to eliminate a specific shot,

Who needs custom fitting?

At its more technical level Custom Fitting can build low handicap golfers and professionals a more efficient swing with shafts fitted to their swing speeds and tempo.

Higher handicap players can use adjustments in lie angles and shafts to overcome repetitive swing faults.

Improvers and beginners need custom fitted equipment to encourage the correct set up - the foundation for a solid game.

How do I find the right 'Fit'?

An experienced and well trained club fitter will be able to make an accurate assessment of your needs. An experienced fitter will consider your physical dimensions 'static fit' as well as assessing your technique 'dynamic fit'. A ball hitting session is the only reliable way to confirm the results of the Custom Fitting.

Do my current clubs fit?

Unless professionally fitted your current equipment could be partly responsible for the less desirable parts of your game. Some examples to check below:

  • Shafts too flexible
    • Ball flight too high
    • Hooking ball flight
    • Inconsistency

  • Shafts too stiff
    • Ball flight too low
    • Weak shots right
    • Poor distance

  • Clubs too long
    • Fat shots
    • Inconsistent striking
    • Falling away at impact

  • Clubs too short
    • Thinned low shots
    • Falling forwards at impact
    • Excess knee flex

  • Lie too flat
    • Missing to the right
    • Over strong grip
    • Over use of hands

  • Lie too upright
    • Ball flight left
    • Weak grip
    • Dislike 'tight' lies

"Don't make the game any harder than it needs to be - use equipment that fits!"

Every golfer has a unique swing, so it makes sense to have a set of clubs tailored to suit the individual. The professionals and top amateurs have understood this for many years, but for most of us, a custom fit has always seemed like a luxury and not a necessity.

But now, with today’s technology and the vast amount of product options available, an experienced PGA club fitter can quickly and cheaply recommend a custom fitting that exactly matches the characteristics of your swing.

So here at Snainton Custom Fit Golf, you can be sure that what was once reserved for Tour players and elite amateurs is now available to golfers of all levels.

Choose to have your current equipment tweaked and adjusted, or upgrade to a complete custom solution. Either way, you will be working with an experienced PGA Club Fitter.

Based on accurate measurements of your main performance factors, he will identify the personalised fittings for club heads, shafts, and grips to match your swing. And of course you can choose from all the top brand names.
